Treatment Products & Ingredients

At the Center For Breath Treatment we utilize many different products in the treatment of halitosis, and none are manufactured by our center because once we start producing our own products our objectivity as a healthcare provider is lost. This allows us to avoid any potential conflict of interest when it comes to recommending the best halitosis products and treatment modalities to patients. Because we aren’t tied to any single line of products we have the ability to make changes as new products for the treatment of bad breath problems are developed. We want our patients to feel comfortable knowing we are recommending what is truly best for them. That is what a healthcare provider is supposed to do.

There are many web sites and individuals who are producing their own products these days and of course the only thing they are recommending is their own product line. Many of these products have not undergone independent clinical studies to prove their effectiveness, and many do not contain the actual active ingredients claimed, or the active ingredient is present in extremely low concentrations, thus preventing the product from being very effective. We  have the ability to modify our recommendations as better medications and devices are developed for the treatment of halitosis. Since 1996, when we began treating halitosis in our clinic, we have on a number of occasions changed the products and medications used in the treatment of bad breath conditions due to new advances and developments in the field of bad breath treatment.

Being one of the founders of a successful biotech company I have access to excellent laboratories and scientists where we can conduct our studies and test new and existing products. Virtually every product available for treating bad breath has been tested by us. We have used the TriOral rinse and toothpaste system for a number of years, but recently we have completed extensive testing of a new product called the DioxiCare® System. Included is the Dioxirinse™ medicated oral rinse and Dioxibrite™ medicated toothpaste. These new products have proven to be far superior in every way to anything we have used or tested in the past, and we are now implementing this new product into our treatment programs. They are much faster acting and also reduce halitosis odors and bacteria three times faster than anything we have used or tested before. A unique feature of the Dioxirinse™ medicated oral rinse is the ability of the user to actually alter the strength of the product when dispensing it. No other product we have seen has this capability.

When treating patients in our clinic office we use a number of different types of medications and products to treat their halitosis conditions. These can involve combining different devices along with combinations of different medications. Often times we may use medications or products that are not available through our web site or we may even dispense prescription products to a patient if necessary.

There are a number of different chlorine dioxide based oral rinses available today but most are not very effective in treating halitosis because they either contain sodium chlorite and not chlorine dioxide, or the concentration of the chlorine dioxide is so low that it makes for a weak product.  Sodium chlorite is a mild oxidizing agent that does not eliminate the halitosis causing bacteria nearly as well as the DioxiCare® products. We have used various chlorine dioxide based products in the past with little satisfaction. The reason for this dissatisfaction is because it is extremely difficult to produce sufficient concentrations of chlorine dioxide in a mouth rinse or toothpaste due its chemical nature, and because it is a gas.  The Dioxirinse™ has more than 3 times the active ingredient, level of chlorine dioxide than any product we have tested. Because chlorine dioxide gas or bubbles are produced when the solutions are mixed the active ingredient can reach areas in the oral environment much more effectively than a liquid product can.
